Summer Flowers by the Water began as an invitation to simply play. After spending so much time focused on larger, more abitious work, I wanted to paint without expectations or an agenda. Using acrylic and pigment-rich oil sticks, I followed color and instinct, letting loose floral forms emerge natually.
Painted during the heat of a North Carolina summer, this piece was inspired by a longing for cooler air, water nearby, and the gentle breeze of a temperate afternoon. It’s less about a specific place than the feeling of escaping to one.
