LANDSCAPE
They say to photograph where you are and what you know. For a while, I lived in one of the most beautiful places in the country— the North Cascades in Washington state. I love a classic mountain view, but I’m just as drawn to the unexpected: a cityscape tucked against alpine ridges, a lonely hill of negative space, a landscape interrupted by graffiti or smokestacks. Beauty isn’t always pristine. Sometimes it’s the contrast that tells the story.
